- I forgot about the Deus Vult series of WADs as well. DV 2 has some easy maps at the beginning and some very though maps at the end, but DV 1 is a gigantic beast of a map with 3000+ enemies and much, much harder than DV 2.
- “Deus Vult” (“God wills it” in Latin) was a battle cry called out by crusaders at the declaration of the First Crusade in 1095. Online, the phrase is often referenced by fans of the strategy video game series Crusader Kings, users on the /r/TheDonald subreddit and is associated with the moe anthropomorphized character Christ-chan on 4chan.

A sequel, Deus Vult II, was released in 2008.
Synopsis[edit]
Deus Vult is a highly modified version of 1SQUARES.WAD by Costa Lappas. Most battles take place in makeshift 'arenas' with cliffs, teleporters or hallways separating each area. This is also true of 1SQUARES.WAD, with doors being the 'separators' between rooms. The first battles feature monsters at the player's eye level, with increasing height differences as the player progresses, as well as the areas and monster counts growing ever larger with each wave.

Walkthrough[edit]
Map of Stargate
Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.
Essentials[edit]
Other points of interest[edit]
Suicide Exit: North of the congested hallway of crates (north of Secret #4), flip the switch and ride the lift up. You should see a conveyor belt moving supplies along. It is possible to die at this conveyor belt, and your body should slide under and exit the level.
Secrets[edit]
- Shoot the target nearest the soul sphere in Secret #3 to open a door ahead. Climb the ladder to get a box of ammo and a medikit. (sector 207)
- Go west from the room with the four green striped squares (the one with the teleporting spectres) and north to a fork. Instead of taking either path, press the silver wall in front of you to reveal a teleporter which takes you to a computer area map. (sector 237)
- When you press the switch in the vat room with imps and mancubi, head back to the fork mentioned in Secret #2 and take the left path. There is a new opening ahead with some supplies behind a barrier; these are easily obtained after shooting the target here. (sector 284)
- In the congested hallway with crates in the eastern section of the main base, climb the crates to the southeast to find a switch on the backside. This lowers the nearby crate where you can use a lift up to get a backpack. (sector 286)
- At the red key area, to get the blur artifact, look north for a target to shoot. By shooting it the powerup will lower. (sector 860)
- Right at the starting area with the crates, go to the eastern light in the circle of 8 lights and press the switch on its eastern side to lower a crate with a stimpack. (sector 976)
- In the eastern part of the main area in a room with Hell knights, an arch-vile (on Hurt Me Plenty or higher), energy cell packs and a soul sphere, there are two target switches to look for. Look for one on the western wall, opening a passageway behind a teleporter to a previous area, where you will notice the barriers blocking the green rings are now gone. Step into this ring to teleport to an invulnerability. (sector 1567)
- In the eastern part of the main area in a room with Hell knights, an arch-vile (on Hurt Me Plenty or higher), energy cell packs and a soul sphere, there are two target switches to look for. Look for one on the far north corner. After shooting it, head out of this room going north and east. When you get to the BFG9000 room, there is a compartment you can access with a medikit and an energy cell pack. (sector 1666)
- Open the blue door on the west side of the main building and climb up two ladders, but when you attempt to climb the second one you should hear a lift lower. Look east for a teleporter taking you to a secret room. There are energy cells to your right when you enter this room. (sector 2201)
