The PIC 18LF4550 is the device that runs the embedded CSCI - HMI CSC is SW that communicates with embedded CSCI using USB. HMI CSC is running on Windows XP everything is operating normally. when reinstalling the HMI CSC on Windows 10 laptop the USB communication b/w HMI CSC and embedded CSCI drops - Transferred all the drivers from Windows XP to Windows 10 laptop without any success. I re-compiled a project succesfully with the new version but when I try to load the program to flash it says: 'No ST-Link detected'; then 'Error: Flash download failed - Target DLL has been cancelled'. I uninstalled the ST-link utility and the ST-LINK driver and installed them back again but to no avail. Upgrading the 'Microburn' PIC programmer software
Before you can run the latest Microburn Windows software you will need to update the firmware on your programmer kit.
1. Download the latest DIYpack.
2. Unzip to any folder you prefer. The folder will contain the latest HEX files for upgrading the firmware on your particular programmer.
3. Use your existing Micropro software to program another 16F628(A) or 16F648(A) chip with the latest HEX file.
4. Replace the 16F628(A) chip on your programmer with the new one.
5. You can now run the latest Microburn software
If you do not have a spare 16F628(A) or 16F648(A) chip then you will need to use a 2nd PIC programmer to re-program the existing chip
Once you are satisfied that the upgrade is working correctly you can remove the old Micropro software by simply deleting the folder or files where it was installed.
Downloading and installing FTDI's VCP drivers for Windows
The USB VCP Windows drivers can be downloaded from the FTDI website at http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm. Select the driver version for the Windows version you are using and the ZIP file will be downloaded. All the programmer kits use the 'FT232BM' chip.
Installation guides are available for installing the VCP drivers. The guides are in PDF format and can be found at http://www.ftdichip.com/Documents/InstallGuides.htm. Once again, simply click on your Windows version.
At the time of writing (December 13th, 2005) the above links were correct. However FTDI may change their website from time to time and the information may move from one page to another. In this case start at the FTDI home page (http://www.ftdichip.com) and have a look around.
